Program Manager, Shipping Decarbonization Initiative, Energy and Environment Program

Taylor Goelz, MS/MPP, is the Program Manager for the Energy & Environment Program (EEP)’s Shipping Decarbonization Initiative for the Aspen Institute. Within this role, Taylor will apply her collaborative science policy and partnership experience to help the Cargo Owners Zero Emission Vessel Initiative (coZEV) engage multinational businesses and U.S. policy makers to accelerate decarbonization of maritime shipping. Prior to joining Aspen, Taylor served as a John A. Knauss Marine Policy Fellow with NOAA Research focused on U.S. government, NGO, and academia engagement, outreach, and strategic planning for the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021-2030). Her background and expertise span the realm of marine resource management, from participatory decision-making processes for oyster management to finance mechanisms for coastal resilience. She’s passionate about finding unique approaches and solutions to common problems and using partnerships to accomplish ambitious ocean and climate challenges. Taylor holds both a Masters in Marine Science and a Masters in Public Policy through William & Mary and the Virginia Institute of Marine Science’s dual degree program. She received her Bachelors in Environmental Studies from the University of San Diego.
